Things to Inspire your Mind Body Soul -Vol. 3

Updated: Aug 14, 2022

Hi there,

Thanks for stopping by my corner of the Internet. It’s been a while since I’ve posted here, but it feels good to write again. Things to Inspire your Mind Body Soul is a space where I'll share motivational material, and wellness tools to raise your vibration. Everything in this article has brought me peace, balance, and good vibes, and I would love to share that energy with you. This space, and you the reader, are my accountability partners, as I continue my daily wellness practice, share my findings, and tend to my mind, body, and soul.

Feels

This past week I’ve been meditating on trusting the process of my life by letting go of worries about the future. I spend a lot of time and brain power contemplating, whether I’m making the right decisions. After a few situations went differently than expected, it finally clicked, I’m wasting my time worrying about the future when things may end up better than I could ever imagine. Everything is gonna work out how it's supposed to, and every situation is either a win or a lesson. Life can be unpredictable and I want to spend my time enjoying life in the present moment.

Note to self: Do what feels right in the now and let go of needing to know the future. Whatever happens, happens. Que Sera, Sera, whatever will be, will be. A big part of manifestation is asking yourself: what can I do now to create want I want in the future? What kind of person do I need to be today, to have my dream life? Instead of the mental gymnastics, I’m turning my attention to being someone my future self would be inspired by, and let the universe show me how good life can get :)

Eats

It’s no secret food affects our mood thanks to the Brain- Gut Connection. Eating a variety of foods every week is an excellent habit for overall health, especially gut health. I feel like I’ve been eating the same 10 things for the last few years and am ready to try new things. I want to prove that I can have fun and eat well on a plant-based, Whole Foods diet. My new motto when food shopping is no boring meals! Here’s a list of my recent eats in case you need some meal Inspo too:

  1. Açaí Bowl

  2. Avocado Toast

  3. Tofu Scramble

  4. Veggie Nachos

  5. This week’s farmer's market pick-ups

  6. Seeded Watermelon

Moves

Surya - Namaskar aka Sun Salutation is the yoga sequence most classes are based on. It's the first sequence I’ve memorized and was able to flow through without any assistance from a teacher or video. As a morning stretch, I perform three sets of Sun Salutation, to get my body warmed up for the day. I love that it's a quick full-body stretch. Put on some good music, burn incense, lay your mat or a towel by the window, take it slow and get moving.

Listens

  • Songs I've had on repeat lately...

  • For The Healthy Hoes Podcast

This episode of For the HealthyHoes inspired a Lil epiphany this week. For a long time, I felt I had to fit into this box of being a “video producer”, but I am not just my job title or career. At my core, I'm a creator of art that makes people feel good, when I focus on that I feel lighter, and less anxious when creating. My vision gets clearer. I'm done focusing on being the societal label that answers everyone's favorite question of what do you do? I’m letting go of the fear of judgment for following my passions and posting things like this here article. There’s freedom in letting go and just allowing yourself to be your true self.

  • Wayne Dyer Night Meditation

Whenever I'm anxious, in my feelings with racing thoughts, I play this audio. I love listening to this in the background as I get ready for bed. I light some candles, take a shower, do my skincare routine, and journal. It puts my mind at ease and helps me fall asleep with a smile on my face. Listen here

Watches

HindzSight is one of my favorite content creators on YouTube, every video feels like a conversation with a wise friend. Lately, I’ve been meditating and journaling through self-doubt and I randomly came across this video. His videos come right on time and speak to what I’m going through. I hope this video offers you some confidence and comfort knowing you can do anything you set your mind to.

Love Life Season 2 on HBO Max

We rarely see a romantic drama-comedy from the perspective of a black man. Love Life S2 was super refreshing, sincere, and eye-opening into the mind of men in an unpretentious way. I love how all the characters had layers with unique yet relatable drama. This show has comedy, drama, twists, and turns. The finale episode was my favorite and something I'll watch over and over for years to come. 10/10 Recommend.

Reads

I'm shamelessly turning into one of those people who reads multiple books at a time. Current Reads:

Herbs

When’s the last time you tried something for the first time? I love when someone says that in a movie LOL... After years of contemplating mixing herbs and cannabis, I recently tried a botanically blended joint and it’s my new favorite way to smoke. The Lavender, Passionflower, Sativa blended Pre Roll, by Drew Martin, is a perfect end to any day. I love that it’s a low-dose pre-roll meaning you get the uplifted/creative vibes from the Sativa and the chill from the Passion flower/Lavender. After work, I’ll play music, light one, and let the creative juices flow, as I work on personal projects..like this article 😊

Thanks for Reading. Stay Light :)
